NECCO Assorted Wafers
Classic candy wafers
Case Size: 36 Units
Of all the sweets that claim to be nostalgia candy favorites, not many can compete with the rich history and wild popularity of NECCO Wafers. Since 1847, people in the United States and around the world have loved NECCO Wafers – and very little has changed about them in over a century and a half, other than the price.
NECCO Wafers are famous for having traveled around the world with the people who love them. In 1913, explorer Donald B. Macmillan brought NECCO Wafers along on his Arctic expeditions. He used them not only as treats for himself, but also as rewards for the local native children. In the 1930s, Rear Admiral Richard Byrd, a polar explorer, traveled to the South Pole with 2 ½ tons of NECCO Wafers in tow – his team had nearly a pound per week for their 2-year stay in the Antarctic. During World War II, NECCO Wafers were sent by the boxful to troops stationed overseas.
Today, the recipe for NECCO wafers is virtually intact from the one originally used in 1847. The ingredients consist simply of sugar, corn syrup, gelatin, gums, colorings and flavorings. This means that all NECCO Wafers are fat-free, gluten-free and nut-free. Each assorted wafer roll contains a combination of the eight flavors and colors: lemon (yellow), orange (orange), lime (green), clove (purple), cinnamon (white), wintergreen (pink), licorice (black) and chocolate (brown).
One case of NECCO Assorted Wafers contains three dozen 2.02-oz. rolls.
Ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, gelatin, natural & artificial flavors, vegetable gums [gum tragacanth, arabic & xanthan], chocolate liquor, citric acid, FD&C colors [yellows 5 & 6, blue 1, red 3, red 40]
